F. Javier Bermudez-Silva graduated with a BSc in Biology in 1997 from the University of Malaga. He did his MSc and PhD thesis at the Animal Physiology Department of the University of Malaga (2002). Since then, he has been investigating central and peripheral control of energy homeostasis and its dysregulation in obesity and diabetes. In 2009-2011, he was a guest researcher at the Neurocentre Magendie (INSERM), Bordeaux, France, in the group of Dr. Daniela Cota. Since 2012, he has been a Senior Researcher at the Endocrinology Unit of Hospital Regional de Malaga - Instituto de Investigación Biomédica de Málaga (HRUM-IBIMA). His current research interest is related to the role of bioactive lipids and polyphenols from cannabis and extra-virgin olive oil.
