Hagus Tarno attended Kyoto University, Japan (Graduate 2011, Doctor of Agricultural Science). Tarno's work experience includes:
- Lecturer in the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Brawijaya (2002 to present).
- Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Brawijaya (2019 to present).
- Head of the Research Center of Sustainable Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Brawijaya (2017 to 2019).
- Head of Agricultural Entomology Study Program, Postgraduate Program, Faculty of Agriculture University of Brawijaya (June 2017 to 2019).
- Head of Plant Pest Laboratory, Department of Plant Pest and Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Brawijaya (2016 to 2017).
- Chairman, Integrated Organic Research Center, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Brawijaya (2011 to present).
Tarno's research interests include Entomology, Nematology, IPM, and Microbes associated with insect pests. Tarno is a member of the Entomological Society of America (since 2012), International Union of Forest Research Organization (IUFRO) (since 2010), Japanese Forest Society (JFS) (2009 to 2011), and the Entomological Society of Indonesia (since 2003).
