He was a full professor at the University of Bacau, Romania, and now he is a Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Montreal, QC, Canada. His research activity on microporous materials (mainly zeolites and clay minerals) includes the supervision of several undergraduate, Master’s, Ph.D. and postdoctoral research projects since 1984. In 2019, he was awarded the Excellence Prize—Action in Research at the Faculty of Sciences, at UQAM. He is also a member of the Assembly of the Institute of Environmental Sciences. To date, he has more than 220 published articles in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, with more than 3500 citations (h-index = 30 in Scopus; h-index = 35 in Research Gate) and 35 scientific communications in international symposia. He also co-edited some symposium proceedings, 18 books, 6 chapters in international monographs and 10 patents mostly on zeolites and clay mineral applications. Four of these patents on the use of clay materials in dairy technology were awarded a medal at the International Exhibition “Inventica 2005”, Romania, and the Diploma of Excellence with the Gold Medal and the Jury’s Mention, during the International Exhibition of Inventions, Scientific Research and Technology Transfer, Inventica 2006, 12th edition, 5–9 July Iasi (Romania).
