Mr. Brian Peterson-Roest

Brian Peterson-Roest is the co-founder and president of Bees in the D, a non-profit organization devoted to the education and conservation of Honey Bees and other pollinators in Detroit and Southeast Michigan. He has been a 5th grade teacher at Musson Elementary School in Rochester Hills for 21 years and has both a masters and specialist degree in Educational Leadership/Administration from Oakland University. Brian is an Adjunct Professor at Oakland University and President of the Michigan Science Teacher Association. Brian was personally honored by President Barack Obama for receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (2012). He was also a recipient of the Michigan Science Teacher of the Year Award (2011), and the Humanex Excellence in Teaching Award (2015).
