Information

Dr. George Z. Kyzas is Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry at the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTh). He studied Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). He obtained his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees from the Department of Chemistry (AUTh) with expertise in Chemical Technology. He is now working at the Department of Chemistry (Democritus University of Thrace, Kavala, Greece) as the Head of the Department (since 2019). His research interests include the synthesis and characterization of various (majorly adsorbent) materials (inorganic, aluminates, polymers, graphenes, agro-food residues, nanomaterials, CNTs, etc.) for the treatment of wastewaters (dyes, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, phenols, oil spills, etc). His scientific work has been published in more than 280 papers in international journals (Q1, IF,ave 6.5), 8 books, 42 chapters in scientific books and 3 patents. He has been a Guest Editor of special issues of journals 11 times, and has given more than 180 invited talks at International Conferences. His work is widely recognized, with 17,500 citations (h-index 73). He is the Editor of "Environmental Science and Pollution Research" (Springer, IF 5.8). His name was included in the list of Highly Cited Researchers for 2022 (Thomson Reuters - Clarivate WoS) [0.1% most impactful scientists in the world].
