Dr. Vivencio O. Ballano is a Faculty Researcher (FR) of the Institute for Human and Social Development (IHSD) and Associate Professor V of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, College of Social Sciences and Development (CSSD), Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Manila. He received his master’s degree in theology and doctorate in sociology from the Ateneo de Manila University. In 2012, he was chosen as a post-doctoral research fellow of the Southeast Asian Studies Research Exchange Program (SEASREP), a fellowship funded by the Toyota and Japan Foundations for his research on media piracy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Dr. Ballano is the author of 3 international peer-reviewed research books published by Springer Nature, the largest academic publisher of scientific books in the world, the first two of which were indexed in Scopus database, namely: Sociological Perspectives on Media Piracy in the Philippines and Vietnam (2016) and Law, Normative Pluralism, and Post-Disaster Recovery (2017). His third and latest book is a Springer Brief in religious studies entitled Sociological Perspectives on Clerical Sexual Abuse in the Catholic Hierarchy (2019). His e-books are also available online worldwide in Amazon books. Dr. Ballano is also publishing qualitative research articles in some leading Web of Science and Scopus-indexed journals and acts as a peer reviewer of some top academic journals.
