Prof. Yi Huang received her PhD in Metallurgy and Materials from the University of Birmingham. After her PhD, she worked as a research fellow and senior research fellow at the University of Southern California, the University of Cambridge, the University of Strathclyde and the University of Southampton. She also has a span of industrial working experience as a materials engineer in an automotive company, JVM Castings Ltd. Dr. Huang’s past work experience covers a wide range of materials (nickel-based superalloys, aluminium alloys, magnesium alloys, titanium alloys, ferrous alloys and metal matrix composites) and different manufacturing processes. She has undertaken many research projects, which were sponsored by the US Army Research Office, US Department of Energy, EPSRC, Royal Society, British Academy and ERC. She is interested in advanced manufacturing, advanced engineering materials, and the relationship between the microstructure and mechanical properties of materials for aerospace, automotive, marine and biomedical applications.
