Dr. Leila Ismail is the Director of the Intelligent Distributed Computing and Systems (INDUCE) Research Laboratory at the College of Information technology of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering. She has had vast industrial and academic experience at the Sun Microsystems Research & Development Center in France, working on the design and implementation of highly available distributed systems, and participated in the deposit of a US patent. She served as a Lecturer at Grenoble I, France, and as an Adjunct Professor at the Digital Ecosystems and Business Intelligence Institute at Curtin University, Australia. She is very active in creating AI smart and efficient digital ecosystems responding to emergency needs for better living in our dynamic global habitat, doing so by introducing blockchain and machine learning and Artificial Intelligence approaches to different applications domains, such as healthcare, energy efficiency, smart transportation and the Internet of Vehicles. She has international research collaborations within Australia and the USA and has been invited as a keynote speaker to several conferences, including the Women in Data Science International Conference (WiDS 2021), organized by Stanford University, USA. She is the recipient of several awards and appreciation certificates.
