In recent years percutaneous drainage has been used successfully to treat the hepatic hydatid cysts of echinococcal disease. We performed a controlled trial to compare the safety and efficacy of percutaneous drainage with those of surgical cystectomy, the traditional treatment.

About Me
Prof. Khuroo joined as Chair of Dept. Medicine “Sher-I-Kashmir-Institute of Medical-Sciences” in 1982 and held the position of Dean/Director SKIMS. In 1995, Prof. Khuroo joined the prestigious King-Faisal-Hospital-Research-Centre, Riyadh. He returned to Kashmir (2005), to establish the tertiary Care Digestive Diseases Center and is a member Governing-body SKIMS, Srinagar. Prof. Khuroo is an astute physician, practicing clinical and therapeutic gastroenterologist and a highly accomplished investigator. He has described the syndrome “Hepatic-vein-thrombosis-following-pregnancy”; discovered hepatitis E, “Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic-Ascariasis”, portal biliopathy and established role of PPIs in peptic-ulcer-bleeding and PAIR technique in hepatic hydatidosis. Prof. Khuroo has received numerous national and international awards.
