Given the continually rising frequency of cyberattacks, the adoption of artificial intelligence methods, particularly Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), and Reinforcement Learning (RL), has become essential in the realm of cybersecurity. These techniques have proven to be effective in detecting and mitigating cyberattacks, which can cause significant harm to individuals, organizations, and even countries. Machine learning algorithms use statistical methods to identify patterns and anomalies in large datasets, enabling security analysts to detect previously unknown threats. Deep learning, a subfield of ML, has shown great potential in improving the accuracy and efficiency of cybersecurity systems, particularly in image and speech recognition. On the other hand, RL is again a subfield of machine learning that trains algorithms to learn through trial and error, making it particularly effective in dynamic environments. We also evaluated the usage of ChatGPT-like AI tools in cyber-related problem domains on both sides, positive and negative. This article provides an overview of how ML, DL, and RL are applied in cybersecurity, including their usage in malware detection, intrusion detection, vulnerability assessment, and other areas. The paper also specifies several research questions to provide a more comprehensive framework to investigate the efficiency of AI and ML models in the cybersecurity domain. The state-of-the-art studies using ML, DL, and RL models are evaluated in each Section based on the main idea, techniques, and important findings. It also discusses these techniques’ challenges and limitations, including data quality, interpretability, and adversarial attacks. Overall, the use of ML, DL, and RL in cybersecurity holds great promise for improving the effectiveness of security systems and enhancing our ability to protect against cyberattacks. Therefore, it is essential to continue developing and refining these techniques to address the ever-evolving nature of cyber threats. Besides, some promising solutions that rely on machine learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning are susceptible to adversarial attacks, underscoring the importance of factoring in this vulnerability when devising countermeasures against sophisticated cyber threats. We also concluded that ChatGPT can be a valuable tool for cybersecurity, but it should be noted that ChatGPT-like tools can also be manipulated to threaten the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data.

Rice, as one of the significant grain products across the world, features a wide range of varieties in terms of usability and efficiency. It may be known with various varieties and regional names depending on the specific locations. To specify a particular rice type, different features are considered, such as shape and color. This study uses an available dataset in Turkey consisting of five different varieties: Ipsala, Arborio, Basmati, Jasmine, and Karacadag. The dataset introduces 75,000 grain images in total; each of the 5 varieties has 15,000 samples with a 256 × 256-pixel dimension. The main contribution of this paper is to create Quantized Neural Network (QNN) models to efficiently classify rice varieties with the purpose of reducing resource usage on edge devices. It is well-known that QNN is a successful method for alleviating high computational costs and power requirements in response to many Deep Learning (DL) algorithms. These advantages of the quantization process have the potential to provide an efficient environment for artificial intelligence applications on microcontroller-driven edge devices. For this purpose, we created eight different QNN networks using the MLP and Lenet-5-based deep learning models with varying quantization levels to be trained by the dataset. With the Lenet-5-based QNN network created at the W3A3 quantization level, a 99.87% classification accuracy level was achieved with only 23.1 Kb memory size used for the parameters. In addition to this tremendous benefit of memory usage, the number of billion transactions per second (GOPs) is 23 times less than similar classification studies.

With the deployment of the 5G in wireless communications, the researchers' interest is focused on the sixth generation networks. This forthcoming generation is expected to replace the 5G network by the end of 2030. Artificial intelligence is one of the leading technologies in 5G, beyond 5G, and future 6G networks. Intelligence is endowing the tendency to throw open the capabilities of the 5G networks and the future 6G mobile wireless networks by leveraging the universal infrastructure, open network architectures, software-defined networking, network function virtualization, multi-access edge computing, vehicular network, etc. This discussion is aimed at providing, in a comprehensive manner, how artificial intelligence can be integrated into different applications and finally, we analyse and discuss the opportunities and main technical challenges of the wireless communication standards, present novel approaches, and recent results that will encourage the development and implementation of the sixth generation networks.

The fast development of communication technologies and computer systems brings several challenges from a security point of view. The increasing number of IoT devices as well as other computing devices make network communications more challenging. The number, sophistication, and severity of network-related attacks are growing rapidly. There are a variety of different attacks including remote-to-user (R2L), user-to-remote (U2R), denial of service (DoS), distributed DDoS, and probing. Firewalls, antivirus scanners, intrusion detection systems (IDSs), and intrusion prevention systems (IPSs) are widely used to prevent and stop cyber-related attacks. Especially, IDPSs are used to stop and prevent intrusions on communication networks. However, traditional IDSs are no longer effective in detecting complicated cyber attacks from normal network traffic. Because of this, new promising techniques, which specifically utilize data mining, machine learning, and deep learning, need to be proposed in order to distinguish intrusions from normal network traffic. To effectively recognize intrusions, the feature generation, feature selection, and learning processes must be performed delicately before the classification stage. In this study, a new feature selection method called FSAP (Feature Selection Approach) is proposed. In addition, a hybrid attack detection model called SABADT (Signature- and Anomaly-Based Attack Detection Technique) is suggested, which utilizes different classification metrics to recognize attacks. The proposed general method FSACM (Feature Selection and Attack Classification Method) is tested on KDD ’99, UNSW-NB15, and CIC-IDS2017 datasets. According to the experiment results, the proposed method outperformed the state-of-the-art methods in the literature in terms of detection, accuracy, and false-alarm rates.
