Full Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering at the URJC since 2002. Currently Dean of the Higher School of Experimental Sciences and Technology (ESCET) of the URJC. Previously, he has been Vice-Chancellor of Students and University Extension (URJC, 2001-2002), Deputy Vice Chancellor of Technological Innovation (URJC, 2002), Deputy Dean of Study Plans (ESCET-URJC, 2002-2005), and Head of the Department of Science and Materials Engineering (URJC, 2005-2013). President of the Spanish Association of Composite Materials (AEMAC, 2004-2009). Member of the Steering Committee Foundation for Research, Development and Application of Composite Materials (FIDAMC) since 2011. Since 2005, he has focused his research activity on the development of multifunctional polymer matrix composites (combination of structural and functional properties), being the director of the research group on multifunctional composites and nanocomposites of the URJC. It has contributed to the development of dispersion processes of carbon nanostructures (CNF, CNT, and graphene) in thermosetting resins, techniques for incorporating these structures into carbon fiber composite materials (fiber modification and/or matrix doping), and conductive adhesives (thermal and electrical). The ultimate goal of this line of research is to develop multifunctional behaviour (anti-lightning behaviour, structural health monitoring, anti-de-icing systems, energy storage, etc.) in composite materials.
