Dr. Man Zhao is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine. She received her Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from Nankai University. Her research centers on the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways of tumor metabolism, with a focus on lipid and glutamine metabolism in liver and kidney cancers. She has published 27 peer-reviewed articles, including first-author papers in Science Advances, Cancer Research, Cancer Letters, JHEP Reports, and Acta Pharmacologica Sinica. Dr. Zhao is an Associate Member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). She served as President of the Stanford Chinese Postdoctoral Association and was honored with the 2023–2024 Stanford Postdoc Champions: Community Impact Award, JEDI Champion, recognizing her leadership in advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion at Stanford and beyond. She currently serves as a Co-Guest Editor for the Special Issue “Advances in Cancer Metabolism” in Metabolites. Her ongoing research investigates the role of the m6A RNA demethylase FTO in promoting kidney cancer growth and survival through mechanisms involving glutamine metabolism, and explores the regulatory interactions between FTO, glutamine metabolism, and the tumor microenvironment.
