The coronavirus pandemic has raised serious questions about the need to properly inform residents of large cities about the rules of hygiene, behavior in self-isolation, and maintaining health. This study aimed to identify in more detail the sources of information and to assess the levels of awareness and knowledge of the inhabitants of a typical metropolis about coronavirus infection to further search for ways to improve health information during pandemics. This research has a questionnaire survey design. Data from 478 adult Muscovites were collected on 20–25 March 2020 by the Institute of Social Sciences of Sechenov University. The aim of this study was to study the level of awareness in preventing the spread of infection and peculiarities in the perceptions of residents of the city of Moscow toward the large-scale social changes associated with the COVID-19 pandemic as well as their impact on the way of life, social relations, lifestyle, and ideas about the future of the population. This article presents the results of a medical and sociological survey of residents of Moscow implemented at the beginning of the spread of coronavirus infection in the country, which showed the awareness of residents of Moscow regarding the problem of the spread of coronavirus and the prevention of infection as well as a high level of anxiety and the pessimistic expectations of respondents regarding the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for the state, society, and people. At the same time, the fears of the survey participants involved both immediate risks of the disease and a wide range of socioeconomic problems from near and distant perspectives.

Sport is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle and has a direct and indirect impact on the quality of life of the population. The authors, within the framework of a sociological survey, consider the features of the ideas and motivational attitudes of students of eight Russian medical universities that determine their commitment to sports and identify a number of factors that affect the involvement of respondents in sports life at the stage of higher education. According to the survey results, respondents changed the structure of their sports activity downward after entering a medical university, which is primarily due to a high level of academic load, lack of finances and a decrease in motivation to play sports. There is a contradiction: medical students have knowledge about the role of sports in preserving health however, they record a low level of their personal involvement in sports. However, the saving of time due to the reduction / refusal of respondents from sports and the priority of the vector of efforts formed in the study group to obtain professional knowledge, skills and abilities to provide highly qualified assistance to the population (even taking into account the risks to their own health), in the opinion of the authors, indirectly confirms the preservation of the altruistic component of medical activity and the readiness of medical university students to the special requirements and risks of the chosen profession.

BACKGROUND: The healthcare system is the most important social institution affecting the life of each member of Russian society. To improve the organization of the provision of medical care to citizens in the context of long-term program-oriented strategic planning for health development in the region, it is necessary to take into account the interests, expectations, and requests of patients (as consumers of medical services) regarding the quality of medical care, staffing, and the material, technical, and technological equipment of medical organizations. AIM: Construction of a social portrait of consumers of medical services of the healthcare system of the Moscow region, taking into account the socio-demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of patients and the salient characteristics of their medical behavior. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study (a questionnaire survey of 531 patients) was conducted in FebruaryMay 2022 based on the Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute named after M.F. Vladimirsky. The subject of the study was consumers of medical services at the institute at the age of 18 years, permanently residing in the Moscow region. The survey participants were recruited based on the calculated selective population, with quotas by sex and age. The thematic sections of the questionnaire focused on the study of the level of satisfaction of respondents with the medical services received, the characteristics of their medical behavior and attitudes to their health, and the analysis of the main socio-demographic characteristics of patients (gender, age, social and family status, education, and financial situation). RESULTS: The study, conducted among residents of the Moscow region, made it possible to determine their attitude to their health, the level of satisfaction with the medical service received, features of medical behavior, and experience of interaction with medical workers (primarily doctors), including conflict situations. It has been established that among patients, a positive assessment of the quality of the medical services they receive prevails, most of them prefer to receive information about diseases, methods of treatment, and drugs from medical professionals, and they tend to trust doctors and comply with their prescriptions. When patients experience conflict situations, this most often happens with registry workers and is mainly due to the difficulty of getting an appointment with a doctor. CONCLUSION: The study identified the most characteristic features of medical behavior and described a social portrait of a typical consumer of medical services in the Moscow region.

To solve the problems of improving public health management, the article proposes the use of the methodology of the sociological approach. In the process of organizational modeling, a conceptual model for organizing medical and sociological monitoring of the results of strategic planning for the development of territorial health care was designed. Medical and sociological monitoring of the results of strategic planning for the development of regional healthcare can be an additional management tool in the healthcare system.
