Zdeněk Kala is a Professor at the Institute of Structural Mechanics, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic. He graduated from Brno University of Technology in 1995, received his Ph.D. in 1998, became an Associate Professor in 2003, and was appointed Professor in 2008. He previously worked in industry on the analysis and design of steel structures. His research focuses on structural reliability, stochastic computational mechanics, global and quantile-oriented sensitivity analysis, nonlinear structural mechanics, and the stability of steel structures. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Mathematics and has served as a Guest Editor of its Special Issues on sensitivity analysis. In 2024, he received the SIGNUM EXCELLENTIAE Medal from the Faculty of Civil Engineering for his contributions to academic excellence.
