Wei Lan earned his B.S. in Physics from Lanzhou University in June 2002 and his Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from the School of Physical Science and Technology at Lanzhou University in June 2007. Following graduation, he continued his career at Lanzhou University, where he has held the positions of Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor. In 2010, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the research group of Professor John A. Rogers (now at Northwestern University, USA) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2020, he was a Visiting Scholar in the research group of Professor Cunjiang Yu at the College of Engineering, University of Houston, USA.
Currently, he serves as a Professor at the School of Physical Science and Technology, Lanzhou University, Head of the Materials Science and Engineering Postdoctoral Research Station, and Head of the Materials Discipline. He has been consistently recognized as a Top 2% Global Scientist.
His long-term research focuses on flexible electronics, including flexible batteries, flexible sensors, electronic skin, flexible transparent thermotherapy patches, and flexible conductive films. He has published more than 110 SCI-indexed papers in prestigious journals such as Science Advances, PNAS, Advanced Materials, and Advanced Functional Materials. He has been invited to deliver popular science talks on flexible electronic technology.
