This paper challenges the false dichotomy of reading Paul either through a singular ("monocular") Jewish or Greco-Roman lens and suggests that even "binocular" (Greco-Roman and Jewish) approaches are still insufficient and flatten Paul's complex and diverse Sitz im Leben and thought world. I argue for a "kaleidoscopic" approach to Paul and Philippians that better accounts for the cosmopolitan colonia of first-century Philippi.
