Prof. Dr. Antonio Granell is a Research Professor at Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). During his PhD, he conducted pioneering work with pathogenesis-related proteins and then moved into a postdoc role where he worked for more than 3 years on plant molecular genetics at the Plant Science Institute at Penn University. He then joined the Plant Group at the Instituto de Agroquímica in Valencia to work on plant senescence. Since 2006, his research interests include fruit quality mainly using tomato as a model system, but sometimes also citrus and peach fruit. He has dedicated much effort to developing technologies, participating in international consortia such as the Tomato Sequencing Consortium, and making the genomic information available to the plant research community. Antonio is the group leader of PGB, the scientific coordinator of the metabolomics facility, and in charge of several molecular breeding projects.
