With the increasing popularity of social media, people has changed the way they access news. News online has become the major source of information for people. However, much information appearing on the Internet is dubious and even intended to mislead. Some fake news are so similar to the real ones that it is difficult for human to identify them. Therefore, automated fake news detection tools like machine learning and deep learning models have become an essential requirement. In this paper, we evaluated the performance of five machine learning models and three deep learning models on two fake and real news datasets of different size with hold out cross validation. We also used term frequency, term frequency-inverse document frequency and embedding techniques to obtain text representation for machine learning and deep learning models respectively. To evaluate models' performance, we used accuracy, precision, recall and F1-score as the evaluation metrics and a corrected version of McNemar's test to determine if models' performance is significantly different. Then, we proposed our novel stacking model which achieved testing accuracy of 99.94% and 96.05 % respectively on the ISOT dataset and KDnugget dataset. Furthermore, the performance of our proposed method is high as compared to baseline methods. Thus, we highly recommend it for fake news detection.
Significant attention has been paid to the accurate detection of diabetes. It is a big challenge for the research community to develop a diagnosis system to detect diabetes in a successful way in the e-healthcare environment. Machine learning techniques have an emerging role in healthcare services by delivering a system to analyze the medical data for diagnosis of diseases. The existing diagnosis systems have some drawbacks, such as high computation time, and low prediction accuracy. To handle these issues, we have proposed a diagnosis system using machine learning methods for the detection of diabetes. The proposed method has been tested on the diabetes data set which is a clinical dataset designed from patient’s clinical history. Further, model validation methods, such as hold out, K-fold, leave one subject out and performance evaluation metrics, includes accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, F1-score, receiver operating characteristic curve, and execution time have been used to check the validity of the proposed system. We have proposed a filter method based on the Decision Tree (Iterative Dichotomiser 3) algorithm for highly important feature selection. Two ensemble learning algorithms, Ada Boost and Random Forest, are also used for feature selection and we also compared the classifier performance with wrapper based feature selection algorithms. Classifier Decision Tree has been used for the classification of healthy and diabetic subjects. The experimental results show that the proposed feature selection algorithm selected features improve the classification performance of the predictive model and achieved optimal accuracy. Additionally, the proposed system performance is high compared to the previous state-of-the-art methods. High performance of the proposed method is due to the different combinations of selected features set and Plasma glucose concentrations, Diabetes pedigree function, and Blood mass index are more significantly important features in the dataset for prediction of diabetes. Furthermore, the experimental results statistical analysis demonstrated that the proposed method would effectively detect diabetes and can be deployed in an e-healthcare environment.
Given the rapid increase of textual data in various fields, text summarization has become essential for efficient information handling. Over recent decades, numerous methods have been proposed to enhance summarization processes, and various review papers and books have been published to encapsulate these methodologies and discuss their implications. However, existing reviews often fail to provide a comprehensive retrospective of recent advancements, particularly concerning detailed architectural frameworks, the field’s current state, evaluation methodologies, and unresolved challenges. This paper addresses this gap by presenting a detailed analysis of the extractive approach, encompassing its inherent strengths, limitations, and underlying mechanisms. We present a detailed, multi-layered architectural framework designed to advance and develop summarization models, thereby supporting researchers in their endeavors. Furthermore, this review categorizes domain-specific summarization techniques, focusing on unique challenges and tailored strategies for news, scientific articles, and social media. We emphasize the impact of evaluation metrics and benchmark datasets in performance assessment, providing a detailed analysis of the commonly utilized datasets and metrics in the current literature. This paper is a valuable resource for advancing text summarization techniques in natural language processing and machine learning by identifying future research directions and open challenges.
The heart of the current wireless communication systems (including 5G) is the Fourier transform-based orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM). Over time, a lot of research has proposed the wavelet transform-based OFDM as a better replacement of Fourier in the physical layer solutions because of its performance and ability to support network-intensive applications such as the Internet of Things (IoT). In this paper, we weigh the wavelet transform performances against the future wireless application system requirements and propose guidelines and approaches for wavelet applications in 5G waveform design. This is followed by a detailed impact on healthcare. Using an image as the test data, a comprehensive performance comparison between Fourier transform and various wavelet transforms has been done considering the following 5G key performance indicators (KPIs): energy efficiency, modulation and demodulation complexity, reliability, latency, spectral efficiency, effect of transmission/reception under asynchronous transmission, and robustness to time-/frequency-selective channels. Finally, the guidelines for wavelet transform use are presented. The guidelines are sufficient to serve as approaches for tradeoffs and also as the guide for further developments.
The cluster-based technique is gaining focus for scheduling tasks of mixed-criticality (MC) real-time multicore systems. In this technique, the cores of the MC system are distributed in groups known as clusters. When all cores are distributed in clusters, the tasks are partitioned into clusters, which are scheduled on the cores within each cluster using a global approach. In this study, a cluster-based technique is adopted for scheduling tasks of real-time mixed-criticality systems (MCS). The Decreasing Criticality Decreasing Utilization with the worst-fit (DCDU-WF) technique is used for partitioning of tasks to clusters, whereas a novel mixed-criticality cluster-based boundary fair (MC-Bfair) scheduling approach is used for scheduling tasks on cores within clusters. The MC-Bfair scheduling algorithm reduces the number context switches and migration of tasks, which minimizes the overhead of mixed-criticality tasks. The migration and context switch overhead time is added at the time of each migration and context switch respectively for a task. In low critical mode, the low mode context switch and migration overhead time is added to task execution time, while the high mode overhead time of migration and context switch is added to the execution time of a task in high critical mode. The results obtained from experiments show the better schedulablity performance of proposed cluster-based technique as compared to cluster-based fixed priority (CB-FP), MC-EKG-VD-1, global and partitioned scheduling techniques e.g., for target utilization U=0.6, the proposed technique schedule 66.7% task sets while MC-EKG-VD-1, CB-FP, partitioned and global techniques schedule 50%, 33.3%, 16.7% and 0% task sets respectively.
