Dr. P. Miribel-Català is an associate professor of the Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering of the Universitat de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain. He completed post-doctorate research on semiconductors, designing integrated circuits for DC/DC power converters. His research focuses on integrated advanced instrumentation devices, low-voltage and low-power design, smart power, (energy harvesting and power management), lab on a chip, and point-of-care (POC) systems. He is the head of the “Discrete-to-Integrated Systems Lab” (D2In) research group, which develops new environments, combining technologies to change the current paradigm of LOC and POC systems and implantable devices. In this sense, his two lines of work focus on (1) the development of ultra-low consumption electronics with high measurement performance and (2) the creation of low-consumption electronic energy recovery systems (harvesting) to integrate into daily activities that take place in different areas of society.
