Anna Orlova is the Head of the International Laboratory "Hybrid Nanostructures for Biomedicine" of the Center of "Informational and Optical Technologies", ITMO University. She is the Leading Professor and Head of the Master's program "Physics and Technology of Nanostructures" and the Bachelor's program "Physics of Nanostructures" at the the International Research & Educational Centre of Physics of Nanostructures at ITMO University.
Professor Orlova successfully combines lecture, administrative, and research activities. The research interests of Professor Orlova's laboratory are spectroscopy and the photophysics of hybrid structures based on colloidal semiconductor quantum nanocrystals, magnetic nanoparticles, graphene, titanium dioxide nanocrystals, and organic molecules for biomedical and sensor applications. Her current h-index for Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar is 19 with over 1170 total citations.
She graduated with honors from the Engineering Physics Faculty of LITMO Institute (St. Petersburg) in 1997 and then received the scientific degrees of Candidate of Technical Sciences in 2003 and Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences in 2016 from the same institution (now ITMO University). From 1997 to 2006, she was a junior researcher at Vavilov Optical Institute, and she then returned to her Alma Mater and developed there from research associate to professor (2017).
