Dr. Yunzeng Zhang is a professor at the School of Biological Sciences and Technology of Yangzhou University. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Yanshan University in July 2006 and his Ph.D. from China Agricultural University in July 2012. He completed his postdoctoral research at the Citrus Research and Education Center, University of Florida, in July 2017. In 2017, he joined Yangzhou University. From December 2022 to June 2024, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Florida, USA. He is a member of the Agricultural and Forestry Informatics Committee of the Chinese Society of Bioinformatics (in preparation) and a member of the Third Jiangsu Youth Science and Technology Workers Association. His research directions are (1) the use of comparative genomics, molecular genetics, and other methods to analyze the evolution and environmental adaptation mechanisms of microorganisms in the process of host–microorganism interactions, and (2) the use of high-throughput sequencing technology (NGS) and related bioinformatics methods, supplemented by culturable methods, to analyze the molecular mechanism of host microbiome group formation, the interaction between the microbiome and host, and the interaction mechanism between the microbiome and specific microorganisms (such as pathogens).
