Dr. Chang Won Choi received his B.S. degree from the Department of Agronomy, Korea University (Seoul, Korea) in 1982 and M.S. degree in Plant Pathology Major, Department of Plant Science, South Dakota State University (Brookings, SD, USA) in 1986. He attended the Department of Plant Pathology, Physiology and Weed Science of Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA, USA) as a graduate research assistant (1987–1991), worked with the interaction system between soybean mosaic virus and soybean cultivars under the guidance of Dr. Sue A. Tolin, and received his Ph.D. in Plant Pathology in 1991. After a year as a postdoctoral research associate in Ft. Lauderdale Research and Education Center of the University of Florida, he joined the Department of Biology, Pai Chai University (Daejeon, Korea) as an Assistant Professor (1993–1996) and Associate Professor (1996–2002). He became a Professor of the Department of Biology and Medicinal Science in 2002 and spent a year (2002–2003) as a visiting professor at Dr. T.J. Morris’ Lab at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA) to conduct a study related to a suppressor (coat protein of Turnip crinkle virus) to RNA silencing. Currently, he serves as a Section Editor (Bioactives and Nutraceuticals) and Special Issue Guest Editor for the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (ISSN: 1422-0067). His recent research is focused on biotechnology related to bacteria, fungi, viruses, and plants.
