Prof. Patrizia Romualdi is a full professor of the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the University of Bologna. She is the author of 128 publications, of which 110 are in extenso (100 in international journals with impact factor and 10 monographs) and 12 short communications submitted to referees. She is also the author of 287 participations in congresses, many of which she has participated in as a speaker. On 4 June 2004, she received the Best Poster Award at the National Congress of Neuropsychopharmacology, held in Bologna, as a scientific recognition in the field of neuropharmacology. On 2 June 2005, she received the Best Poster Award at the National Congress of the SIF, held in Naples, as a scientific recognition in the field of molecular pharmacology. On 9 September 2005, she organized the national SIF conference "Neuropharmacology of drug addiction" in Bologna. Her main field of interest is neuropharmacology, and, in particular, Dr. Romualdi has dedicated her research to clarifying the biological role of neuropeptides, first investigating their involvement in numerous functions of the central nervous system, such as the modulation of nociceptive transmission, sleep control, and different behavioral responses, and subsequently studying the regulation of gene expression of opioid neuropeptides through molecular biology approaches.
