Crushing is one of the most energy-consuming technological processes. The purpose of grinding is to achieve the desired grain size of mineral raw materials. The process of grinding consists of many factors, for example, the size and form of crushed grains, as well as their mutual arrangement inside the crushing machine chamber, the technological parameters of the crusher, the material properties, and the speed of the moving grains. One of the key parameters of the aggregate is its resistance to grinding. Resistance to grinding is related to the strength of the products made from aggregates subjected to grinding, which affects the overall quality of these products. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyze the impact of the crushing of natural aggregate on the LA crumbling strength index. Two types of aggregates were analyzed—natural gravel and natural pebbles crushed in a crusher. Aggregates were acquired from two mines belonging to the plant Kruszgeo S.A. in Rzeszów, i.e., ZEK (Zakład Eksploatacji Kruszywa) Ostrów and ZEK Strzegocice II. The aggregate crushing process was carried out for 4–8 mm and 10–14 mm fractions using cone crushers of the 1044 type. Aggregate crushing was carried out in a Los Angeles drum, in accordance with the requirements of EN 1097-2:2020. The analysis showed that for grits of the 10–14 mm fraction, the lower values of the LA indices were obtained, which allows for obtaining a bigger index of crushing strength than in the case of crushing using the 4–8 mm fraction. This analysis showed how important the process of grinding aggregates is and, thus, the appropriate selection of fractions for the grit crushing process for the aggregate strength on grinding. Subjecting the aggregate to the grinding process results in an improvement in the crushing strength indicator, thus obtaining better strength parameters of the products manufactured from the aggregates subjected to the process of crushing (for example, concrete). The originality of the study is an analysis of key Polish aggregates and the crushing strength index.

Public finances are a term used to denote specific financial relations and operations taking place within the economic system between public administration institutions, on the one hand, and other entities, on the other. From an economic point of view, a public contract means an efficient allocation of resources with the aim of material and material provision of public administration bodies with such services that these bodies cannot or do not want to secure themselves. Through public procurement, a relatively high volume of public spending is realized in each developed country. Public procurement of goods, services and works by public institutions currently accounts for a relatively high percentage of GDP, estimated at more than 15% in the economies of Central and Eastern Europe. The area of procurement is one of the key areas where the public and private sectors interact financially with each other. As part of the paper, we primarily deal with below-limit and above-limit contracts in public procurement in the Slovak Republic. As part of the research, we focused on the period from 2016 to 2019. The paper provides an overview of the number of procedures in public procurement for the period from 2016 to 2019. In this comparison of data, we try to demonstrate the strength of public procurement in the public sector as well as the volume of financial flows spent on procurement. Within the issue of our research, the acquisition of relevant documents as well as verified procedures is very problematic, as we do not have a significant number of sources of professional and science publications related to these topics in the Slovak Republic.

Business continuity depends on the quality of management of individual processes. The management team strives to anticipate all possible threats and define protective measures. In the event of the COVID-19 pandemic enterprises were not prepared for such threats. Therefore, an important role is played by the health and safety inspector who should be involved in the company management process. The impact of the safety aspects of the work environment on the quality and efficiency of work is even more important in the event of an unexpected hazard that is difficult to completely eliminate. The purpose of the paper is to present the causes and effects of the COVID-19 biohazard according to the Ishikawa diagram on the example of a selected process in an enterprise.

Purpose. There are several deposits of critical raw materials in the Slovak Republic, but currently only one is mined. This is a barite deposit in Spiš, which shows an ever-lower volume of exploited raw material year-on-year. However, this area is rich in several confirmed barite veins, which represent potential strategic raw materials. The presented article analyzes in detail and describes the Jaklovce I. deposit, which is located in the Gelnica district in north-east of Slovakia. Despite the fact that Slovakia, as well as most EU countries, is dependent on imports of raw materials, the new deposits represent new potential. Determination of the economic value of these deposits creates a promising potential for the investor, but also, secondarily, a potential for the socio-economic development of regions, as well as for the state. Methods. Based on the evaluation of dynamic economic variables, the article predicts the benefits which mining in this deposit would bring, which are also supported by SWOT analysis of barite exploitation. Findings. According to the methods used during the financial evaluation of the single mined deposit of CRM in Slovakia, which was developed because of CRM criticality in EU, we showed, based on § 14 of the Mining Act no. 44/1988 Coll. the necessity of CRM mining from the view of regions, the state and investors. The present article summarizes impacts of exploiting the barite from Jaklovce I. deposit for the investor, as well as for the state, which is also underlined through SWOT analysis. Originality. This study attempts to point out that mining critical raw materials is economically suitable not only for the state, but also for investors. SWOT analysis also pinpoints most threats, opportunities and some forecasts which should be taken into account while designing the investment project. Practical implications.I nvestment project in mining area is one of the most critical and challenging decisions that experts have to make mainly based on geological, economical and geotechnical properties of the deposit, which are very specific. The same is true for the investment project which represents huge investments and rate of risk

Skills in using information and communication technology solutions in the modern world determine the quality of professional and social life for everyone. The last decade has shown that digital competences are an important group of key competences for every employee and every organization. The purpose of this study is to present results of surveys on digital competences of Polish and Slovak students. Generally, results show that assessment of the level of digital competence of Polish students is not only higher but also less diverse. The rationale for addressing the subject of digital competences is its significance, constant changes resulting from development of ICT and the need to improve quality of life of individuals and organizations in the modern digital world. In this questionnaire, the students were asked to evaluate their level of understanding both existing and non-existing terms from the ICT area. The results have shown that there are significant differences between the questioned groups of students especially in case of IT competences.

To conduct, in an effective way, the non-destructive testing (NDT) of products—in particular, the fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI)—remains a challenge. Therefore, the aim of this work is to propose the method of support in the choice of a fluorescent penetrant to be used in FPI research. In the results of the usage of the proposed procedure, it is demonstrated that it is possible to reduce the negative impacts on the environment by FPI processes (through sustainability), while including other criteria, i.e., financial, security, productive (Industry 4.0), and societal (Society 5.0) criteria. The essence of the proposed method is to integrate two methods of decision support. These were the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method and the cost–quality analysis (AKJ). Using the AHP method, the quality level of fluorescent penetrant (to the satisfaction of the customer)—which included the sustainability criteria—are calculated. These criteria include natural environment, reactivity, combustibility, level of sensitivity, and type of washing (emulsification). Then, with the help of the AKJ, the most favorable penetrant—in terms of quality and cost—is calculated and, thus, indicated. This choice must include the concept of sustainable development. Therefore, this method can be used to choose fluorescent penetrants in manufacturing and service enterprises which carry out FPI.

One of the ways to succeed in the competitive environment is more effective communication with target customers. The rapid development of technologies offers ever greater opportunities to explore behavior, perception and emotional engagement of customers. The development of communication technologies coupled with the use of direct advertising targeting offers the possibility of adapting marketing communication to both the target segment and the media that communicates to consumers. New opportunities for rapid scattering, targeting and placement of advertising communications and the use of media, on the other hand, meet the overwhelming and unattractive attitudes of consumers. People go through the day in different environments where there is no segmentation of communication, exhibiting nationwide, world-wide media where communication is targeted at the broadest masses. In this way, general communication makes people less interested or even worse, resisting any form of communication. As advertising grows overwhelmed by consumer awareness, the potential for targeting and the right placement of advertising communications is losing efficiency. Investing money in communication campaigns is a bet rather than reasonably spent money. It is necessary to realize how the traditional concept of marketing communication changes.

In terms of design and material composition, cars are the large set of diverse materials and raw materials. The relative proportion of materials varies along with the development and innovation of new types of cars. The most represented material is metal. On average, outdated cars feature about 8% of plastic and approximately 4% of rubber products. The problem is the further use of these recycled materials. The research has found new areas for the use of tires, waste foam and interior materials—noise reduction. The authors have designed and tested several variations of acoustic absorption materials. Of the tested materials, the best parameters were shown by “ecofoam”—almost across the entire frequency range (100–5000 Hz).

Many years have in education dominated theoretical information and knowledge transmission and relatively little (or no) attention has been paid in practical experiences, creativity and innovation. However, in current dynamically changing and by information and technologies supersaturated environment becomes creativity an important determinant of the success of organizations because of its ability to generate new/innovative ideas, products, and solutions. Educational institutions are facing a new challenge - to prepare students - the future workforce - so that they are able to adequately or creatively address the problems and challenges, think critically and unconventionally (out of the box), act quickly and efficiently. The paper summarizes existing business simulation literature and provides some authors' experiences and outputs of the research on students' attitudes to the use of business simulation in education as a “innovative” teaching method.

Environmental information is very useful not only for individual but also for companies. Users can be defined as individuals or groups who are interested in the company because they want to influence or have it affect their business or activity for which it is operating or otherwise concerned. Very important and closely tied with environmental information is environmental accounting. Environmental accounting underpins environmental management and is a critically important role used to reflect environmental considerations in decision - making.
