Emilie Destandau is a full professor at the University of Orléans at the Institute of Organic and Analytical Chemistry (ICOA UMR 7311). Her research in analytical chemistry focuses mainly on the search for bioactive molecules in plants. She develops eco-responsible extraction methods using microwave-assisted extraction, ultra-sound assisted extraction, or pressurized liquid extraction and chromatographic analyses, mainly with thin-layer chromatography and liquid chromatography in combination with mass spectrometry to separate and identify the bioactive molecules. She develops metabolomics approaches for plant extract characterization and comparison using chemometric and bioinformatic tools. These methods are applied to the production of active ingredients for cosmetics, as well as to the study of plant metabolites to understand changes in the metabolic expression of plants subjected to different types of stress and to improve knowledge in metabolite composition to better valorize plant extracts.
