Professor Jennifer G. Duan has conducted research in hydraulics and sediment transport in arid and semi-arid regions for 20 years. She teaches hydraulics and sediment transport courses at the University of Arizona. Her research team has conducted intensive experimental and computational modeling research on soil erosion from arid and semi-arid watersheds. This paper is an outcome of a funded research project that aims to evaluate soil erosion from three arid watersheds in southern Arizona. Because of the limitation of hydrologic and sediment data, the Kineros2 model was calibrated to match the limited data observed from the watershed. The results provided guidance for prioritizing watershed restorations.
