Tomáš Nečas earned from Mendel University in Brno a Horticulture degree (1998) and a PhD in Horticulture Production (2004). He is now the head of the Fruit Science Department in the Faculty of Horticulture at Mendel University (Lednice) in Brno. His work in in a wide field of fruit science has resulted in 67 publications in WOS, memberships on three editorial boards of international scientific journals and numerous conference participations. As an academic teacher, he supervised more than 100 final theses for students of bachelor's, master's and doctoral study programs. His research interests include fruit growing, apricot, plum and pear breeding, genetic resources, nursery production and fruit diseases.
