Siegfried Selberherr was born in Klosterneuburg, Austria, in 1955. He received a Diplomingenieur degree in electrical engineering and a doctoral degree in technical sciences from the Technische Universität Wien in 1978 and 1981, respectively. Prof. Selberherr has been holding a venia docendi on Computer-Aided Design since 1984. From 1988 to 1999, he was the Head of the Institute for Microelectronics. From 1998 to 2005, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. His current research topics focus on the modeling and simulation of problems for microelectronics engineering.
