Maja Karaman is a Full Professor in Microbiology/Mycology (06.2020) at the Faculty of Science, University of Novi Sad. In addition to teaching, she is engaged in scientific research in the field of mycology, especially the physiology, biochemistry, and ecology of fungi, as well as environmental studies. She earned the first prize for her poster presentation at IMMC9 in 2009. Since 2013, she has been a member of the OPTIMA Mushroom Commission. She is the recipient of a fellowship from the SUNBEAM program in 2015/2016 in association with the University of Bologna, Italy. Since 2018, she is a founder of the ProFUNGI Laboratory, which aims to advance fungal research.
