John E. Candelo-Becerra received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. degree in engineering with an emphasis in electrical engineering from the Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia, in 2002 and 2009, respectively. His employment experience includes the Empresa de Energía del Pacífico (EPSA), Cali; the Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia; and the Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede Medellín, Medellin, Colombia. He is currently a professor (full) with the Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede Medellín. He is a Senior Researcher with Minciencias, Bogotá, Colombia, and a member of the Applied Technologies Research Group (GITA), Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede Medellín. His research interests include engineering education; planning, operation, and control of power systems; artificial intelligence; smart grids; and microgrids.
