Carlos Alberto de Bragança Pereira was born in 1946 in the city of Rio de Janeiro and holds a degree in Statistics (1968) from the National School of Statistical Sciences (ence). During his graduation, he was a teaching monitor at the Public Health Teaching Foundation, Oswaldo Cruz Institute. Shortly thereafter, in May 1969, he began his teaching career at the University of São Paulo (usp) as an auxiliary teacher at the former Faculty of Philosophy. With the creation (1970) of the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics (ime) he was transferred to the statistical department of the new institute. He obtained his master's degree in Statistics in 1971 from the ime-usp and became an assistant professor. Started (1977) his PhD program in Tallahassee at Florida State University (fsu) and earned (1980) the PhD degree under the supervision of the honorable Professor Dev Basu. He went through all levels of his teaching career, becoming a Full Professor in 1990. In this interim, after becoming an assistant-doctor, he defended his thesis of “Free Teacher” in 1984, becoming an associate professor and in 1989 obtained the position of adjoining professor: In summary; auxiliary in 1969, assistant in 1971, assistant-doctor in 1981, associate in 1984, adjoining in 1989 and full in 1990. In 2016 he retired, becoming a senior lecturer at usp and from June 2018 to May 2020 joined, as a visiting professor, the University of Mato Grosso do Sul (ufms).
