Matilde Alique graduated with a Master’s in Biology and then obtained her doctoral thesis (Suma Cum Laude) in Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad de Alcalá, Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, Spain. During her postdoctoral research at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC and the Nephrology and Hypertension Unit in the Fundación Jimenez Diaz in Madrid, she gained extensive expertise in the molecular regulation of inflammatory renal and cardiovascular diseases. As a visiting professor at the Universidad de Alcala, she focused on the role of endothelial extracellular vesicles in endothelial damage associated with chronic renal disease. Currently, she has a position as an assistant professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad de Alcalá. Her research is focused on studying extracellular vesicles as prognostic biomarkers of cardiovascular disease associated with chronic kidney disease.
