Carlos Ferreiro-Vera is the CEO of the R&D Department at Phytoplant Research S.L.U., a company dedicated to medicinal plants and natural compounds including hemp. He obtained his degree in chemistry from the University of Cordoba in 2008 and earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry in 2011. His research has focused on the development of new analytical platforms in metabolomics for finding new biomarkers and in the exploitation of waste from the food industry to search for new nutraceuticals, dyes, and products with high added value. He was a member of the Institute of Biomedicine Maimonides of Cordoba (IMIBIC), and he has participated in research projects both at the University of Cordoba and at the IMIBIC, projects which they have addressed the creation of new analytical platforms in metabolomics, use of auxiliary energies in the preparation of samples, the exploitation and use of residues from the agri-food industry, the search for new nutraceuticals and products with high added value, and the isolation, purification, and characterization of the biological activity of active principles of medicinal plants.
