There has been growing interest in using photovoltaic (PV) energy harvesting technology to reduce reliance on mineral-based energy. Partial shading scenarios (PSS) significantly affect the electrical characteristics of a PV generator. However, few studies have devoted to the detection and assessment of the PSS. In this paper, shading rate and shading strength are used to characterize the PSS. A shading pattern detection algorithm is proposed to estimate the number of shaded modules in a PV string and distinguish the PSS from uniform irradiation scenarios. A multiple-output support vector regression (M-SVR) is applied to estimate the shading strength. In addition, the maximum power point voltage of the applied PV generation system can be predicted from measured data. Simulation and experimental validation show the feasibility of the proposed method in the face of various environmental conditions. It could be used as a preliminary step toward automatic supervision and monitoring PV generation system.
Although the quality of reconstructed results can be improved with the increment of the number of measurements, the scale of the matrices involved in the reconstruction of fluorescence molecular tomography (FMT) will become larger, which leads to the poor efficiency of the process of tomographic image reconstruction. In this paper, we proposed a new method for image reconstruction of FMT based on compressed sensing, in which a scheme of grouped sources is incorporated. The forward equations are implemented using the finite element method (FEM). The reconstruction model is formulated under the framework of compressed sensing theory. The regularization term and the total variation penalty are incorporated in the objective function. During the reconstruction of FMT, the sources are divided into two groups for iteration in turn. One group of sources is employed in the first iteration of inverse problem, and the other group is employed in the next iteration. Simulation results demonstrate that the computation time and mean square error (MSE) of the reconstruction with our algorithm are less than those with the traditional method. The proposed algorithm can reconstruct the target with enhanced contrast and more accurate shape. The proposed algorithm can significantly improve the speed and accuracy of the reconstruction of FMT. Furthermore, our compressed-sensing-based method can reduce the number of measurements.
The inconvenience operation of EEG P300 or functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI) will be overcome, when the deceptive information can be effectively detected from speech signal analysis. In this paper, the fractional Mel cepstral coefficient (FrCC) is proposed as the speech character for deception detection. The different fractional order can reveal various personalities of the speakers. The linear discriminant analysis (LDA) model (which has the ability of global optimal vector mapping) is introduced, and the performance of FrCC and MFCC in deceptive detection is compared when all the data are mapped to low dimensional. Then, the hidden Markov model (HMM) is introduced as a long-term signal analysis tool. Twenty-five male and 25 female participants are involved in the experiment. The results show that the clustering effect of optimal fractional order FrCC is better than that of MFCC. The average accuracy for male and female speaker is 59.9% and 56.2%, respectively, by using the FrCC under the LDA model. When MFCC is used, the accuracy is reduced by 3.2% and 5.9%, respectively, for male and female. The accuracy can be increased to 71.0% and 70.2% for male and female speakers when HMM is used. Moreover, some individual accuracy is increased over 20%, or even more than 85%, when FrCC is introduced. The results show that the deceptive information is indeed hidden in the speech signals. Therefore, speech-based psychophysiology calculating may be a valuable research field.
