5G technologies promise faster connections, lower latency, higher reliability, more capacity and wider coverage. We are looking to rely on these technologies to achieve Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications, which increase the safety and autonomy of vehicles in addition to road safety, saving energy and costs. The integration of vehicular communication systems and 5G is the subject of many research. Nowadays, researchers address challenges such as automated and intelligent networks, cloud and edge data processing, network management, virtualization, security, privacy and finally interoperability. This paper provides a survey of the latest V2X use cases including requirements, and various 5G enabling technologies under consideration for vehicular communications. Subsequently, we first provide an interesting mapping between the three 5G pillars and V2X use case groups. Then, we present a summary of potential applications of enabling technologies for V2X use case groups. Finally, the open directions of research are discussed, and the challenges that await to be met are pointed out.
The rapid development of information and wireless communication technologies together with the large increase in the number of end-users have made the radio spectrum more crowded than ever. Besides, providing a stable and reliable service is challenging, as electromagnetic environments are evolving and becoming more sophisticated. Accordingly, there is an urgent need for more reliable and intelligent communication systems that can improve the spectrum efficiency and the quality of service to provide agile management of network resources, so as to better meet the needs of future wireless users. Specifically, Automatic Modulation Recognition (AMR) plays an essential role in most intelligent communication systems especially with the emergence of Software Defined Radio (SDR). AMR is an indispensable task while performing spectrum sensing in Cognitive Radio (CR). Thanks to the significant advancements in Deep Learning (DL) applications, new and powerful tools have been provided which can tackle problems in this space. Thus, today, integrating DL models into AMR has gained the attention of many researchers. This work aims to provide a comprehensive state-of-the-art review of the most recent Machine Learning (ML) based AMR methods for Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) and Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems. Furthermore, the architecture of each model will be identified along with a detailed comparison in terms of specifications and performance. Finally, an outline of the open problems, challenges, and potential research directions is provided along with discussion and conclusion.

Modulation type is one of the most important characteristics used in signal waveform identification and classification. Spatial correlation is a crucial factor for practical multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. This paper addresses the problem of blind digital modulation identification in spatially-correlated MIMO systems. The proposed algorithm is verified using higher order statistical moments and cumulants of the received signal. The purpose is to discriminate among different M-ary shift keying linear modulation schemes without any priori signal information. This study employs several MIMO techniques to identify the modulation with and without channel state information (CSI). The proposed classifier shows a high identification performance in acceptable signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) range.

The fifth-generation (5G) of cellular networks and beyond requires massive connectivity, high data rates, and low latency. Millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications is a key 5G enabling technology to meet these requirements thanks to its technical potentials that can be integrated with other 5G enablers such as ultra-dense networks (UDNs) and massive multiple-input-multiple-output (massive MIMO) systems. However, some technical challenges, which are mainly related to specific characteristics of mmWave propagation, must be addressed. All the aforementioned points will be discussed in this paper before presenting the different existing architectures of massive MIMO mmWave systems. This survey mainly aims at presenting a comprehensive state-of-the-art review of the channel estimation techniques associated with the different mmWave system architectures. Subsequently, we will provide a comparison among existing solutions in terms of their respective benefits and shortcomings. Finally, some open directions of research are discussed, and challenges that wait to be met are pointed out.

Modulation type is one of the most important characteristics used in signal waveform identification. In this paper, an algorithm for automatic digital modulation recognition is proposed. The proposed algorithm is verified using higher-order statistical moments (HOM) of continuous wavelet transform (CWT) as a features set. A multilayer feed-forward neural network trained with resilient backpropagation learning algorithm is proposed as a classifier. The purpose is to discriminate among different M-ary shift keying modulation schemes and the modulation order without any priori signal information. Pre-processing and features subset selection using principal component analysis is used to reduce the network complexity and to improve the classifier's performance. The proposed algorithm is evaluated through confusion matrix and false recognition probability. The proposed classifier is shown to be capable of recognizing the modulation scheme with high accuracy over wide signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) range over both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and different fading channels.
Here, a new spectrum sensing method, called mean-to-square extreme eigenvalue (MSEE), is proposed. Considering a multiple antenna communication system, the proposal is drawn from the arithmetic-to-geometric mean (AGM) algorithm using only the smallest and the largest eigenvalues of the covariance matrix of the received signal. The aim of MSEE is to avoid the heavy computational costs of AGM method. Firstly, based on the random matrix theory, a theoretical development to set the threshold of the proposal is provided. Then, the validity of the expression is verified by simulations. Finally, simulation results show an interesting performance of MSEE compared to several spectrum sensing methods in the literature.
