Dr. Sergio Moya earned his PhD in Physical Chemistry (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Potsdam while conducting research at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces under Prof. Edwin Donath and Prof. Helmuth Möhwald. He previously completed his Chemistry
degree at the National University of the South, receiving the Argentinean
Chemical Society Prize for outstanding academic performance. He later carried out his postdoctoral research with Jean-Marie Lehn at the Collège de France and at the University of Cambridge. Since 2007, he has been a group leader at CIC biomaGUNE and a Ramón y Cajal Fellow. He has also held adjunct and visiting professorships across Europe and Asia. Dr. Moya has coordinated nine European projects and multiple national and regional grants. He has authored over 320 publications, four book chapters, and four patents, and has supervised numerous PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. His research focuses on soft matter nanotechnology, particularly polyelectrolyte-based nanomaterials for drug delivery, tissue engineering, sensing, and antifouling applications, as well as the biological interactions and safety of nanomaterials.
