Information

Dr. Gustafson directed the NCI Molecular Targets Program’s Natural Products Chemistry Section and now is affiliated as a Special Volunteer. He investigates the structural chemistry and biological properties of natural products from diverse sources. His discovery of biologically active natural products has provided novel structural classes of secondary metabolites with unusual molecular scaffolds and functional groups. These compounds can serve as chemical probes for molecular studies or as preclinical development candidates. Dr. Gustafson obtained his Ph.D. with Raymond Andersen at the University of British Columbia, Canada and was a postdoctoral fellow with William Fenical at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
