I hold a PhD in biochemistry and the molecular biology of microalgae from The University of Córdoba (Emilio Fernandez’s lab), where I studied the transport systems mediating inorganic nitrogen uptake in microalgae. For my postdoc, I worked on the biochemistry and cell biology of filamentous, heterocyst-forming cyanobacteria. The main achievement of my postdoctoral research was the identification of the conduits mediating intercellular molecular exchange of substrates and signal molecules between cells.
