In this paper, to solve the problem of detecting network anomalies, a method of forming a set of informative features formalizing the normal and anomalous behavior of the system on the basis of evaluating the Hurst (H) parameter of the network traffic has been proposed. Criteria to detect and prevent various types of network anomalies using the Three Sigma Rule and Hurst parameter have been defined. A rescaled range (RS) method to evaluate the Hurst parameter has been chosen. The practical value of the proposed method is conditioned by a set of the following factors: low time spent on calculations, short time required for monitoring, the possibility of self-training, as well as the possibility of observing a wide range of traffic types. For new DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) system implementation, algorithms for analyzing and captured traffic with protocol detection and determining statistical load parameters have been developed. In addition, algorithms that are responsible for flow regulation to ensure the QoS (Quality of Services) based on the conducted static analysis of flows and the proposed method of detection of anomalies using the parameter Hurst have been developed. We compared the proposed software DPI system with the existing SolarWinds Deep Packet Inspection for the possibility of network traffic anomaly detection and prevention. The created software components of the proposed DPI system increase the efficiency of using standard intrusion detection and prevention systems by identifying and taking into account new non-standard factors and dependencies. The use of the developed system in the IoT communication infrastructure will increase the level of information security and significantly reduce the risks of its loss.

This paper proposes a modified architecture of the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) mobile network to provide services for the Internet of Things (IoT). This is achieved by allocating a narrow bandwidth and transferring the scheduling functions from the eNodeB base station to an NB-IoT controller. A method for allocating uplink and downlink resources of the LTE/NB-IoT hybrid technology is applied to ensure the Quality of Service (QoS) from end-to-end. This method considers scheduling traffic/resources on the NB-IoT controller, which allows eNodeB planning to remain unchanged. This paper also proposes a prioritization approach within the IoT traffic to provide End-to-End (E2E) QoS in the integrated LTE/NB-IoT network. Further, we develop “smart queue” management algorithms for the IoT traffic prioritization. To demonstrate the feasibility of our approach, we performed a number of experiments using simulations. We concluded that our proposed approach ensures high end-to-end QoS of the real-time traffic by reducing the average end-to-end transmission delay.

With the widespread use of the Internet, network security issues have attracted more and more attention, and network intrusion detection has become one of the main security technologies. As for network intrusion detection, the original data source always has a high dimension and a large amount of data, which greatly influence the efficiency and the accuracy. Thus, both feature selection and the classifier then play a significant role in raising the performance of network intrusion detection. This paper takes the results of classification optimization of weighted K-nearest neighbor (KNN) with those of the feature selection algorithm into consideration, and proposes a combination strategy of feature selection based on an integrated optimization algorithm and weighted KNN, in order to improve the performance of network intrusion detection. Experimental results show that the weighted KNN can increase the efficiency at the expense of a small amount of the accuracy. Thus, the proposed combination strategy of feature selection based on an integrated optimization algorithm and weighted KNN can then improve both the efficiency and the accuracy of network intrusion detection.

In this paper, we consider the saturation problem in the 3GPP LTE cellular system caused by the expected huge number of machine‐type communication (MTC) devices, leading to a significant impact on both machine‐to‐machine (M2M) and human‐to‐machine H2H traffic. M2M communications are expected to dominate traffic in LTE and beyond cellular networks. In order to address this problem, we proposed an advanced architecture designed for 5G LTE networks to enable the coexistence of H2H/M2M traffic, supported by different priority strategies to meet QoS for each traffic. The queuing strategy is implemented with an M2M gateway that manages four queues allocated to different types of MTC traffic. The optimal radio resource allocation method in LTE and beyond cellular networks was developed. This method is based on adaptive selection of channel bandwidth depending on the QoS requirements and priority traffic aggregation in the M2M gateway. Additionally, a new simulation model is proposed which can help in studying and analyzing the mutual impact between M2M and H2H traffic coexistence in 5G networks while considering high and low priority traffics for both M2M and H2H devices. This simulator automates the proposed method of optimal radio resource allocation between the M2M and H2H traffic to ensure the required QoS. Our simulation results proved that the proposed method improved the efficiency of radio resource utilization to 13% by optimizing the LTE frame formation process.

In this paper, we propose the model of adaptive routing of heterogeneous traffic with respect to the current requirements regarding quality of service provisioning. The main idea is to develop the model for effective routing with high degree of flexibility that is achieved using a set of weighting coefficients which all together constitute the general routing metric. Based on this metric the routing system tries to achieve the best possible performance characteristics for every class of IP traffic. In reality, software-defined networks are the first in line where such dynamic routing is to be implemented. The core of such network is a managing device - software controller that is responsible for managing the structure of the network. In such case, this device is able to select optimal weighting coefficients for the generalized routing metric. In this paper, we present the diagram of the developed algorithm along with the description of its main steps. We also verify the proposed solution comparing it to the existing routing algorithms such as OSPF and EIGRP using the developed simulation tool.

With the development of smart power grids, electronic transformers have been widely used to monitor the online status of power grids. However, electronic transformers have the drawback of poor long-term stability, leading to a requirement for frequent measurement. Aiming to monitor the online status frequently and conveniently, we proposed an attention mechanism-optimized Seq2Seq network to predict the error state of transformers, which combines an attention mechanism, Seq2Seq network, and bidirectional long short-term memory networks to mine the sequential information from online monitoring data of electronic transformers. We implemented the proposed method on the monitoring data of electronic transformers in a certain electric field. Experiments showed that our proposed attention mechanism-optimized Seq2Seq network has high accuracy in the aspect of error prediction.
