Dr. Sourav Mondal is a Researcher in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the National Institute of Technology Durgapur, India, in 2022. Prior to joining the University of Sharjah, he held a postdoctoral fellowship at Sungkyunkwan University, Republic of Korea, and served as an Assistant Professor at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, India.
His research interests include Extremal Graph Theory, Chemical Graph Theory, Spectral Graph Theory, Graph Invariants, and Quantitative Structure–Property/Activity Relationship (QSPR/QSAR) modeling. His work focuses on the development and analysis of graph-theoretical descriptors, extremal problems for graph invariants, graph energies, and applications of topological indices in mathematical chemistry.
Dr. Mondal has authored more than 60 research publications, including over 50 SCIE-indexed articles, with over 1,800 citations and an h-index of 22 (Google Scholar). He has contributed to the resolution of several open problems in chemical graph theory and has introduced and studied novel graph descriptors with applications in molecular property prediction. In 2025, he was recognized in the Stanford–Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists list. He actively serves the research community as a reviewer for several international journals and as a Guest Editor of a special issue in an SCIE-indexed journal.
