Prof. Mutaz Ryalat is Professor of Mechatronics Engineering and Director of the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Hub at the German Jordanian University (GJU), Jordan. He holds a PhD in Control Engineering from the University of Southampton (2015), an MSc in Mechatronics Engineering from Loughborough University (2007), and a BSc in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Jordan (2005). He previously served as Head of GJU’s Mechatronics Engineering Department and Vice-Dean of the School of Applied Technical Sciences. In 2024, he undertook a research visit at Imperial College London’s Hamlyn Centre for Surgical Robotics. His research spans nonlinear and robust control, passivity-based control, robotics, autonomous systems, and smart manufacturing. His contributions include control methods for underactuated systems, ROS 2-based hybrid aerial–ground robots, and IoT-enabled predictive failure detection in additive manufacturing. He is an IEEE Senior Member, Chair of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Jordan Chapter, and a member of the Jordan Engineers Association. He serves as an active reviewer for a number of journals and conferences in the area of mechatronics engineering.
