Pantelis G. Bagos studied biology, biostatistics, and bioinformatics at the University of Athens, Greece. He has been involved in teaching a number of undergraduate and postgraduate classes at several universities, including the University of Athens, the University of Peloponnese, the University of Central Greece, and the Hellenic Open University. Currently, he is Professor of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics at the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics of the University of Thessaly. His research interests include biostatistics and genetic epidemiology (statistical methods for meta-analysis of genetic association studies and applications) and bioinformatics (biological sequence analysis, prediction of the structure and function of proteins, and construction of biological databases). He has coauthored more than 140 papers in peer-reviewed journals, with more than 7,000 citations. He is a founding member and chairman of the Hellenic Society for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics.
