Dr. Francisco García-Río is a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, pulmonologist, and professor of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He is currently the Head of the Pulmonology Section at the La Paz University Hospital and Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He has served as the coordinator of the Madrid Community Pulmonary Disease Strategic Plan and director of the Health Research Institute at the University Hospital of La Paz (IdiPAZ). Since 2016, he has been a member of the board of directors of the Association of Galician Doctors (ASOMEGA). He is also the director of the CIBER Respiratory Disease Research Group and a member of major national and international associations in the respiratory system. His main research areas are the complications of sleep-disordered breathing, the pathogenesis of airflow limitation, and the systematic examination of respiratory function.
