Sergei N. Shchelkunov, Professor, PhD, ScD, Chief scientist. Graduated from Novosibirsk State University in 1973. Deputy Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Orthopoxvirus Diagnosis and Repository for Variola Virus Strains and DNA. Professor of the Department of Molecular Biology, Novosibirsk State University. Member of the Expert Council for research projects, Russian Science Foundation. Member of the Expert Council for Physical Chemical Biology of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. Member of the State Certification Commission for Biology, Novosibirsk State University. Actual member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Award of Russian Government for Science and Technology. Current research interests: Evolution and biological properties of orthopoxviruses. Vaccine development.
