Since I finished my training in pediatrics, I have been devoted to research in pediatrics. I am an active member of the Spanish Pediatric AIDS Research Network (CoRISpe), and I have coordinated diverse multicenter studies addressing different aspects of HIV pathogenesis in children. In recent years, I have co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications. In 2013, I launched a project addressing mucosal immunology and the role of the human microbiome in HIV pathogenesis in HIV-infected children. Since then, we have focused on other infectious diseases, such as Tuberculosis, and non-infectious diseases, such as food allergies and response to immunizations. I am currently working at Hospital Universitario la Paz in Madrid, where I combine clinics and research, as I am firmly convinced that a translational perspective is needed in order to improve child health.
