Dr. James H. Swain is an Associate Professor and Director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) in the Department of Nutrition, School of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University, OH, USA. He has served on the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) Advisory Committee and is Past Chair of the National Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) Board. He is also Past President of the Greater Cleveland Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (GCAND), Past Chair of the Research Dietetics Practice Group (R-DPG) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), and Past Chair of the Vitamin and Mineral Research Interest Section (VM-RIS) of the American Society for Nutrition (ASN). He also serves as an advisor and mentor to students and colleagues. Originally earning a baccalaureate in Biology from the University of California, his doctorate is in Food Science and Human Nutrition from Iowa State University. His research interests include clinical nutrition/diet therapy, mineral absorption–hematology/anemia, and MNT in oncology.
