Biography

I am a researcher with the Hellenic Agricultural Organization (ELGO-Dimitra) specializing on Plant Breeding and Genomics. I hold a degree in Agriculture (1998), a MSc (2007) and a PhD degree (2013) in Plant Genetics and Breeding from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. My PhD work mainly involved the study of the molecular effect of plant grafting and rootstock-scion interactions on key fruit quality characters of the scion and more specifically on fruit shape in pepper. I have been employed as a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Applied Biosciences (INAB), CERTH, Greece. In 2015 I was awarded a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Indvidual Fellowship by the European Commission in collaboration with the University of East Anglia, School of Biological Sciences, Norwich, UK. My project involved the study of the miRNA degradation mechanism (turnover) in plants. Since December 2017, I am based at the Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources of ELGO-Dimitra, located in Thessaloniki, Greece.
