Andrea Matros began her scientific career, working on the impact of elevated carbon dioxide on secondary metabolites profiles using tobacco as a model. Her postdoctoral work was focused on the development and application of biochemical and analytical methodologies to elucidate protein and metabolite networks in plant stress defense, development, and seed quality and composition. Current work concentrates on fructan biology in cereals, mainly barley and wheat, and its impact on grain morphology, composition, yield, and plant performance. A. Matros has been working on cereal physiology for a long time and is highly experienced with all aspects of recent molecular analytical technologies and plant phenotyping approaches.
