Zala Jenko Pražnikar, Ph.D., Associate Professor, graduated from the Faculty of Chemical and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, with a degree in Biochemistry. She received her Ph.D. in 2009 in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. During her doctoral studies, Zala Jenko Pražnikar was employed as a young researcher at the Department of Molecular and Biomedical Sciences of the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, where she studied toxins and biological membranes. Zala Jenko Pražnikar is currently employed at the University of Primorska, Faculty of Health Sciences, where she teaches Biochemistry and selected chapters from the subject of Genetics and Nutrigenomics. She is involved in various national and international research projects. Her research interests include the search for early biomarkers of obesity and various related diseases, as well as the field of nutritional interventions.
