Alexander P. Savitsky, Ph.D., Dr.Sc., Prof. (Biochemistry), is a laboratory head at the Federal Research Centre of Biotechnology of the Russian Academy of Science. He received his Ph.D. in 1979 and Doctor of Science in 1991, both in Biochemistry, from Lomonosov Moscow State University. His research interests include molecular imaging, cell biology and especially fluorescent proteins (GFP and homologs), confocal lifetime and super-resolution microscopy, femto- and picoseconds fluorescence spectroscopy, in vivo imaging FRET-FLIM nanobiosensors, photobiochemistry and photodynamic therapy, lanthanide and phosphorescent labeling technology for in vitro diagnostics. He has published over 160 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, which have more than 5000 citations.
